Phillies left-handed reliever Daniel Stumpf has been suspended 80 games after testing positive for a performance enhancing drug, MLB announced. Stumpf tested positive for dehydrochlormethyltestosterone. The suspension begins immediately.

“The Phillies support Major League Baseball's Joint Prevention and Treatment Program and are disappointed to hear today's news of Daniel's violation," said the team in a statement.

Stumpf, 25, is a Rule 5 Draft pick from the Royals. He pitched well in spring training and earned a spot in the team's Opening Day bullpen. Stumpf has allowed thee runs on one hit and two walks in two-thirds of an inning so far this year. He's appeared in three games.

As a Rule 5 Draft pick, Stumpf must remain on Philadelphia's active 25-man roster for at least 90 days, or be put on waivers and offered back to the Royals.
