Pitcher Joe Thatcher elects free agency

Former Astros pitcher Joe Thatcher has chosen to be a free agent after clearing waivers Tuesday, the team announced.

Thatcher was recently designated for assignment after posting a 3.79 ERA over 19 innings of work.
