The Atlanta Braves have contacted the agent of catcher David Ross to let it be known that the team would like to re-sign Ross this offseason, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's David O'Brien.

Ross has previously indicated his interest to remain with the Braves.

Compounding the issue for the Braves is the status of Brian McCann, who underwent shoulder surgery in mid-October and could require six months of rehab, putting his availability for Opening Day in doubt.

Ross hit .256/.321/.449 with nine home runs in 196 plate appearances for the Braves this season, his fourth in Atlanta. The right-handed hitter drew the start in the Braves' wild-card game with the Cardinals, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the loss.
