Free-agent reliever Kyle Farnsworth will choose between the Rays and another suitor shortly, Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reported Tuesday.

Farnsworth, 36, was limited by injury in 2012, pitching 27 innings with a 4.00 ERA for Tampa Bay. Farnsworth lost the closer job to Fernando Rodney's explosive, record-setting year as he opened the season on the disabled list.

Still, Farnsworth is open to returning in a setup role. He was excellent for Tampa Bay in 2011, with a 2.18 ERA (173 ERA+), a 4.3 K/BB and 25 saves. The other suitor is unknown, but teams are always interested in pitchers with a recent history of successful closing.
