The Mets plan to non-tender starter Mike Pelfrey, outfielder Andres Torres and reliever Manny Acosta by Friday night's deadline, Adam Rubin of ESPNNew York.com reported Tuesday.

Pelfrey, 28, missed all but three starts of the 2012 season because of Tommy John surgery. The Mets' first-round pick in 2005 and a 15-game winner in 2010, he owns a 4.36 ERA (92 ERA+) in 149 career starts, including a 1.59 K/BB. Pelfrey earned $5.675 million in arbitration last season and would be due at least 80 percent of that sum if he were tendered a contract this offseason.

Torres, 34, hit .230/.327/.337 (85 OPS+) for the Mets in 2012 after coming over from the Giants in a trade for Angel Pagan. Torres hit for nearly the exact same line in 2011 (84 OPS+) and received a $500,000 raise in his second arbitration season. As such, he would likely be due a similar raise over his $2.7-million salary from 2012 if tendered a contract.

Acosta, 31, posted by far his worst professional season in 2012 with a 6.46 ERA in 47 1/3 innings, blowing past his previous career worst of 4.34. Acosta walked 4.8 batters per nine innings and allowed 1.3 home runs per nine innings, both career highs. The righty earned $875,000 last year but will be lucky to receive a major-league contract in free agency this offseason.
