Cubs pitcher Paul Maholm is drawing interest as the trade deadline approaches, according to ESPN's Buster Olney.

Maholm isn't a top-tier pitcher, but he's been effective this season. In 105.2 innings, Maholm has a 4.09 ERA and a 4.22 FIP.

Teams looking for a "hot hand" could consider Maholm, who has pitched well in recent outings. Maholm has given up just three runs in his last 30.1 innings. One of those appearances was a one-inning relief stint, with the rest as a starter.

Maholm, 30, signed a one-year, $4.75 million contract last season. He has a $6.5 million club option for next season and can be bought out for $500,000.
