The Red Sox have agreed to a minor-league deal with outfielder Ryan Sweeney, according to WEEI.com's Rob Bradford.

Sweeney played for the Red Sox in 2012 after coming to the team as part of the Andrew Bailey deal in December 2011.

Sweeney, who turns 28 in February, hit .260/.303/.373 with no home runs in 219 plate appearances in 2012. He was just one of 11 players in the majors to accrue at least 200 plate appearances last year without hitting at least one home run.

Sweeney has experience at all three outfield positions, though most of his time with the Red Sox last season came in right field.
