Ryan Zimmerman

While Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman (shoulder inflammation) hasn't suffered a setback, he won't be able to be activated by Sunday, as he'd originally hoped.

James Wagner of the Washington Post reports that manager Davey Johnson says Zimmerman's return will be pushed back to at least Tuesday, when the Nats take on the Pirates in Pittsburgh. Johnson added that Zimmerman will be re-evaluated after he swings a bat on Friday. “I could use his bat but I don’t want it for three or four days and then have a problem with it,” Johnson said. “If that’s missing a couple more games, so be it.”

While it seems likely that phenom Bryce Harper will remain on the active roster once Zimmerman returns, the Nats will have to make room for their veteran third baseman. At this point, it's probably first baseman/outfielder Tyler Moore who'll be on his way back to Syracuse.
