On Thursday, we brought you news that Charlie Sheen -- or Rick "Wild Thing" Vaughn, from the film "Major League" -- wanted to partake in the Cleveland Indians' World Series pomp and circumstance by throwing out a ceremonial first pitch. Sheen's confirmed interest arose after the idea circulated on Twitter.

Unfortunately, for fans of the idea, it's not happening.

The Associated Press reported on Friday that the choices have already been made -- Sheen didn't make the cut:

A spokesman told the AP on Friday that MLB has worked with the Indians to identify "former franchise greats" to throw out the first pitch for the games in Cleveland. An announcement is expected early next week.

As the line goes, hope is a dangerous thing, hope can drive a man insane. Consider this revelation good news, then, because no one has reason to hope Sheen will throw out a first pitch come the World Series -- or go insane when that hope goes unfulfilled.

No word yet on whether the Chicago Cubs would reach out to Thomas Ian Nicholas -- or Henry Rowengartner for those in the know -- if they were to advance to the World Series.
