The Marlins and star slugger Giancarlo Stanton had a scary situation on Wednesday in camp. During a simulated game, top pitching prospect Jose Fernandez nailed Stanton in the head with an errant fastball.

Early indications were that Stanton was OK, according to reports, and that Fernandez was mentally shaken up and left the game after facing only one more hitter (via Fish Tank blog).
It's been quite the eventful spring for Fernandez. He's been named the fifth-best prospect in baseball, revealed he didn't know the name of new Marlins manager Mike Redmond and now dotted Stanton in the dome.
Also, only partially unrelated: This reminds me of how much Tony La Russa used to overreact every time one of his players was hit with a pitch. He'd always say something about how pitchers of this caliber don't miss in that spot by accident. Well, sometimes they do. Fernandez did Wednesday. Yes, La Russa was protecting his players, which is respectable, but the pitchers are also human beings who make mistakes on occasion. Let us remember this teammate-on-teammate incident as we trek through the 2013 season and beyond.
