As our right-wise compatriots at Eye On Football recently noted, the San Francisco Fightin' 49th earlier this week dropped the curtain on Candlestick Park with a rousing match of foot-and-ball against the Atlanta, Georgia Falconers. Or something like that.

Anyhow, that brings to mind the last game the Giants, who called Candlestick and its many iterations home from 1960 through 1999, played at the hallowed sporting grounds of note. It was an eventual 9-4 loss to the loathed Dodgers, but the occasion was nonetheless notable for the sense of ceremony and presence of franchise dignitaries.

So come with us, won't you?

The next season, the Giants would abandon that giant, wind-chilled, multipurpose gravy boat in favor of what's now known as AT&T Park, one of the fairest destinations in all the land.
