With John Danks and Phil Humber recovering from injuries, the White Sox could be in the market for a veteran pitcher at the deadline, according to MLB.com's Scott Merkin.

  • Making a move isn't crucial because those players are expected to return to bolster the team.
  • With Alex Rios and Adam Dunn both playing well, the White Sox are set offensively, and probably won't make any changes there.
  • The bullpen has relied on rookies this season, and GM Kenny Williams could look at adding a veteran. And if Danks will miss significant time, the team could also look for an upgrade in the rotation.
  • With Chris Sale's innings rising, the team could also look at a veteran pitcher to cut down Sale's workload.
  • Williams wants to contend this season, and doesn't want to part with the young pieces on the team, so it's unlikely anything major gets done.
  • There are players Williams is targeting in trade talks, but the real additions will be getting injured players back.
