Yadier MolinaThe Cardinals placed catcher Yadier Molina on the bereavement list. Molina is returning to Puerto Rico following the death of his wife's grandfather, tweets B.J. Rains of FOXSportsMidwest.com.

As CBSSports.com Insider Jon Heyman first reported Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday will replace Molina on the National League All-Star roster. The moves leave the NL with just two catchers on the roster.

MLB Public Relations tweets that because the top three catchers on the players' ballots were already on the roster, manager Tony La Russa was free to choose Molina's replacement in conjunction with MLB officials.

To replace Molina on the 25-man, the Cards have called up catcher Bryan Anderson from Triple-A Memphis, although Tony Cruz is expected to be the regular behind the plate in Molina's absence.

Molina is hitting .304/.357/.500 with 13 homers this season.
