Nolan Reimold: Retires from pro baseball
Reimold has decided to retire from professional baseball.
After failing to gin up much interest from MLB teams this offseason, Reimold latched on with the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League in April to keep his career going. The 33-year-old only batted .238 in 63 at-bats with the Ducks, and with MLB offers still not imminent, Reimold will walk away from the game. Across parts of eight seasons with the Orioles, Blue Jays and Diamondbacks, Reimold turned in a .246 lifetime average and hit 56 home runs.

Nolan Reimold: Signs with independent team
Reimold signed with the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball on Wednesday.
It appears Reimold's career will take an unexpected turn here, as the 33-year-old takes a leave from Major League Baseball. The veteran outfielder hit .222/.300/.365 as a reserve outfielder for the Orioles last year before electing free agency this offseason. Reimold could make a return to the big leagues in due time, but he'll head in a different direction for now.

Orioles' Nolan Reimold: Out of Wednesday's lineup
Reimold is out of Wednesday's lineup against the Red Sox.
Despite David Price taking the mound for Boston, Reimold will stay on the bench and Hyun Soo Kim will get the nod to start in left field. Since the All-Star break, Reimold's performance at the plate has taken a dive, as he's hit just .087/.222/.152 in that time.

Orioles' Nolan Reimold: Plays hero Sunday with pinch-hit walkoff homer
Reimold pinch hit for Julio Borbon in the bottom of the ninth inning Sunday and launched a walkoff, two-run home run off Indians closer Cody Allen.
It was his first homer in almost two months, and Reimold entered Sunday's game hitting just .130 (3-for-23) in July. The Reimold-Borbon duo will likely split time in left field while both Hyun Soo Kim (hamstring) and Joey Rickard (thumb) are on the shelf, but Kim could return as soon as Tuesday. If Reimold keeps playing hero for the O's, though, he'll work his way into more playing time even after Kim is back.

Reimold is in the lineup and batting eighth for Monday's game against the Rangers.
Reimold will get the start in left field while Mark Trumbo slides to the designated hitter role Monday as the Orioles stack as many right-handed bats as possible in a matchup with lefty Derek Holland. Reimold is hitting .265 with four home runs, 10 RBI and 15 runs scored in 48 games as a reserve for the Orioles.

Orioles' Nolan Reimold: Starts second game in a row Monday
Reimold is starting in left field and batting seventh for the Orioles Monday, MASN Sports reports.
Reimold seems to be starting two or three times per week, with the Orioles attempting to funnel his at-bats to left-handed pitchers. That said, he doesn't have much in the way of a platoon split this season -- .286/.375/.457 against left-handers and .292/.327/.542 against right-handers. Reimold does, however, have 25 strikeouts in 83 at-bats, and that in combination with his .414 BABIP suggests his average is in for a tumble.

Orioles' Nolan Reimold: Not in lineup Friday
Reimold is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Tigers.
This is the fourth time in the past week Reimold will not be in the starting lineup. With right-hander Justin Verlander on the bump for Detroit, manager Buck Showalter decided to move Mark Trumbo into the outfield and slot Pedro Alvarez into the lineup as the designated hitter. Reimold has been sitting more frequently with right-handed pitchers on the mound as of late, but if he continues to hit as well as he has this season (.348 batting average thus far), he may force his way into more playing time.

Reimold is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Twins, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Reimold is hitting .333 on the season, but the days off have become more regular, as manager Buck Showalter has begun sitting the outfielder against most righties. The Orioles will go with an outfield arrangement of Joey Rickard in left, Adam Jones in center, and Mark Trumbo in right while Pedro Alvarez will fill in at DH.

Reimold finds himself on the bench for the fourth time in seven games, as manager Buck Showalter opts to utilize Mark Trumbo in a corner outfield spot to clear room in the lineup for Pedro Alvarez at DH. It appears that Reimold and Alvarez are effectively working in a platoon in the final spot in the Orioles' lineup, with Reimold occupying the smaller side of that arrangement due to his right-handedness.

Reimold is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against the A's.
He went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run in Game 1 on Saturday, and will make way in left field for Hyun Soo Kim in the second game. While Reimold's slash line (.333/.366/.641) looks impressive, there is a lot of unsustainable production cooked in, with a .417 BABIP and a very small sample size (41 plate appearances) to boot.
