  • Blue Jays' Matt Buschmann: Assigned to Triple-A Buffalo

Buschmann, who signed with the Jays in early March, will begin the 2017 season at Triple-A Buffalo, Jays Journal reports.

The Missouri native was a standout at Vanderbilt from 2003 through 2006. While in college, Buschmann went 20-9 with a 3.49 ERA before being taken by the Padres in the 15th round of the 2006 draft. Since then, the right-hander has appeared in 307 minor-league games for a bevy of organizations while managing a 4.20 ERA and 1.37 WHIP. Impressively, he's totaled 1,189 strikeouts, the most among active pitchers within the minor leagues. Barring a series of injuries to Jays relievers, it's highly unlikely that Buschmann will make an impact at the major-league level this year.

  • Diamondbacks' Matt Buschmann: Sent down to Triple-A Reno on Sunday

Buschmann was sent down to Triple-A Reno on Sunday.

Buschmann was joined by Jake Barrett. They both threw multiple innings Saturday and won't be available for the next few days. Both could be recalled to the Diamondbacks in the near future, but for now, Buschmann and Barrett will be replaced by the fresh arms of Archie Bradley and Evan Marshall.

  • Diamondbacks' Matt Buschmann: Makes MLB debut Sunday

Buschmann made his MLB debut in Sunday's loss to the Cubs, giving up a hit and a walk but no runs in one inning of work.

The 32-year-old journeyman has logged more than 1,300 innings in 10 minor league seasons, so it's great on a personal level to see him get a shot in the big leagues. He doesn't figure to have a fantasy-relevant role, however, and is more of a depth option for the Diamondbacks at this point.

  • Diamondbacks' Matt Buschmann: Contract selected Friday

Buschmann had his contract purchased by the Diamondbacks on Friday, Jack Magruder of Fanragsports.com reports.

The Diamondbacks bullpen has been a disappointment to start the season, so the club is hoping the addition of a veteran like Buschmann to the mix can help level things out. Buschmann spent all of last season at Triple-A, playing with three different organizations and working a combined 4.08 ERA. He'll be a depth option out of the bullpen but is unlikely to earn a fantasy relevant role.
