  • Tigers' Kevin Chapman: Latches on with Tigers

Chapman had his contract purchased from the New Britain Bees of the independent Atlantic League, Emily Waldon of The Athletic Detroit reports.

Chapman compiled 11 strikeouts across 6.1 scoreless innings with the Bees before latching on with the Tigers. The 30-year-old owns a 4.09 ERA and 48:31 K:BB across 55 career big-league frames. He'll report to Triple-A Toledo where he'll serve as organizational bullpen depth for the Tigers.

  • Kevin Chapman: Released by Minnesota

Chapman was released Wednesday by the Twins, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.

Chapman, who joined the Twins in May after coming over in the Danny Santana deal, appeared in nine games for Triple-A Rochester, turning in a 5.56 ERA and 1.62 WHIP over 11.1 innings. The 29-year-old wasn't viewed as a potential answer to the big club's lackluster bullpen, so the organization elected to cut ties with the left-hander in order to open up a spot on the Rochester roster for Drew Rucinski.

  • Twins' Kevin Chapman: Traded to Minnesota

Chapman was traded Monday from the Braves to the Twins in exchange for left-hander Danny Santana.

Chapman did not make the big-league club out of spring training and was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett. There, he allowed 10 runs on 14 hits over 11.2 innings. The 29-year-old has pitched in 55 innings at the major-league level, all with the Astros, and owns a 4.09 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP.

  • Braves' Kevin Chapman: Sent outright to Triple-A

Chapman was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday.

The left-hander fared much better after being scooped up off waivers from the Astros, but his spring performance still wasn't good enough to land him a spot in Atlanta's bullpen. Chapman's major-league experience could bode well for him if the Braves current relief corps runs into some trouble, but he'll serve as organizational depth until that need arises.

  • Braves' Kevin Chapman: Claimed by Atlanta

Chapman was claimed off waivers by the Braves from the Astros on Monday.

The Braves didn't need to make a corresponding move on the 40-man roster because they already had an open spot. The southpaw has a 4.09 career ERA across 55 major league innings, but he hasn't exceeded 10 innings in either of the past two seasons. The 28-year-old is out of options, so the Braves will either need to carry him on their Opening Day roster or once again expose him to waivers and hope they can send him to the minors.

  • Astros' Kevin Chapman: Placed on waivers

The Astros placed Chapman on waivers Sunday, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The 29-year-old was out of minor-league options and wasn't a viable candidate to land a bullpen role on Opening Day, so the Astros elected to cut their losses with the left-hander, who is expected to go unclaimed off waivers. Assuming that materializes, he'll likely be outrighted to Triple-A Fresno.

  • Astros' Kevin Chapman: Recalled from Triple-A Fresno

Chapman was recalled from Triple-A Fresno on Monday, MLB.com reports.

Chapman will offer the Astros a left-handed option out of the bullpen during their push for the postseason. Over 26.2 big-league innings, Chapman has held lefty hitters to a .220/.327/.276 batting line.

  • Astros' Kevin Chapman: Will be recalled for Thursday night's game

Chapman will be recalled for Thursday's doubleheader.

Chapman will be the Astro's 26th man. Houston's Wednesday night game was called due to inclement weather and will be made up on Thursday. The left-handed reliever likely won't remain on the Astro's major league roster for long, as the move is only temporary and the team will need to cut back to 25 after the games are completed.

  • Astros' Kevin Chapman: Optioned to Triple-A

Chapman was optioned to Triple-A Fresno on Friday.

The 28-year-old lefty reliever can miss bats, but he needs to work on his command/control before he is legitimate long-term option in the Astros' bullpen. He'll serve as organizational depth for now.

  • Astros' Kevin Chapman: Unlikely to make team

Chapman has made not permitted a run over five Grapefruit League appearances, but he's allowed five hits and two walks with just one strikeout over four innings this spring.

Chapman has made 49 relief appearances with the Astros over the last three seasons, and while he does possess strikeout potential (8.04 K/9), he issues too many free passes (5.17 BB/9) to be counted on for a regular role out of the bullpen. As long as Tony Sipp is healthy and performing well, the 28-year-old southpaw will likely serve as pitching depth in the minors.
