UFC veteran Rashad Evans was hoping for a career rebirth at a new weightclass starting Saturday night with his fight against Tim Kennedy. It will have to wait a little bit longer as Evans was not cleared by the New York State Athletic Commission for UFC 205, sources close to the fighter confirmed to CBS Sports.

UFC president Dana White said the fight with Tim Kennedy was off, according to ESPN.

Both parties are still looking to come to a resolution before Saturday, but sources say that Evans was not cleared by the state due to results of a neurological test from 2005.

Evans was scheduled to fight for the first time at 185 pounds after spending his entire career at 205 pounds. The 37-year-old is 2-4 in his last six fights, including a unanimous decision loss to Jon Jones for the light heavyweight title.
