The Spurs announced that Kawhi Leonard will not play in Game 6 against the Rockets on Thursday.

The injury, suffered late in Tuesday's Game 5, was worrisome with Leonard being forced to sit out the end of regulation and the entirety of overtime. After the game Leonard said he would be good to go to for Game 6 so it's a little surprising to see him sitting out. His ankle must have worsened over the short break between games.

There is a small bit of good news despite Leonard not playing. Game 7 won't be until Sunday. This means Leonard will have had an extended time to rest his ankle before playing again. Even better, if San Antonio is able to eliminate Houston without him then that's an even longer break for Leonard to heal up before playing Golden State.

Without Leonard the Spurs are going to need to have incredible performances across the board. Everything about their system functions as well as it does because of Leonard. They managed to steal Game 5 in overtime without Leonard, but that was just five minutes of game time. It's unlikely they'll be able to steal Game 6 without their star. It also doesn't help that they're without veteran point guard Tony Parker as well.
