The NBA's awards season wraps up with Kyrie Irving taking Rookie of the Year, to be awarded Monday, according to ESPN.com.

Surprise, surprise.

Irving, taken first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers, had an outstanding season for the Cavs with an 18.5 ppg average, 5.4 assists and 3.7 rebounds. He battled some minor injuries, missing 15 games.

Irving, who just turned 20, shot an impressive 46.9 percent from the field and 39.9 percent from 3-point range. He quickly evolved into the franchise player the Cavs have been hoping for since LeBron James departed for Miami. The Cavs went just 21-45 this season but were 16-23 on March 11, which had them in the Eastern playoff hunt.

Maybe most impressively, Irving was one of the finest clutch-time players in the league, shooting an incredible 54.4 percent in the last five minutes of a game within five points. He also put away a few game-winners too.

Irving was an obvious, easy choice, beating out such other players as Ricky Rubio, Kawhi Leonard, Kenneth Faried, Chandler Parsons and Iman Shumpert.
