The Utah Jazz had high hopes for Trey Burke after trading for him on draft night in 2013. Yet after three seasons, Burke has struggled to produce like he did in college and now the Jazz are trying to trade him, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

Utah recently traded for George Hill and with Dante Exum returning from injury, Burke has become expendable for the Jazz. Hill will be Utah's starting guard and Exum will likely be the first point off the bench. Meaning that there is now simply not enough playing time in Utah for Burke, who averaged 21.3 minutes last season.

Burke has seen his role in Utah get diminished every year he's been there. In his rookie season, Burke started 68 games, then in the 2014-2015 season that number went down to 43 and last year he didn't start any games.

Even with Exum injured for all of last season, Burke couldn't find a solid role in the Jazz's rotation. Utah also traded for Shelvin Mack midway through the year, and he instantly received minutes and outplayed Burke.

This isn't the first time the Jazz have tried to trade Burke, but now may be more pressing of a time as Utah is loaded at the point guard spot with with Hill, Exum and Burke on the roster.

Burke is a former lottery pick and is still just 23 years old, so the Jazz could likely get some solid value in a trade. And a trade is perhaps the best solution for both parties as a new situation could perhaps revitalize Burke's still relatively young career.
