The Houston Rockets will have quite a bit of work to do when it comes to training camp and narrowing down their roster to just 15 players. They currently have 18 players under contract for next season after agreeing to terms with swingman Francisco Garcia on a one-year deal to bring him back to the team.
Garcia opted out of his deal this summer as the Rockets cleared enough cap space to make a competitive offer to Chris Bosh and other stars on the market, trying to create a three-headed monster with Dwight Howard and James Harden. Their pursuits didn't bring in another star and they ended up letting Chandler Parsons go to the Dallas Mavericks while signing Trevor Ariza in his place. Needing a little bit of a veteran presence to remain on the roster, bringing Garcia back makes sense.

Garcia joined the Rockets during the 2012-13 season when he was traded there from the Sacramento Kings. He had a quiet 18 games with the Rockets to end that season but proved to be a valuable defensive pest in the playoffs when the Rockets faced off against the Thunder when he had to bother Kevin Durant.
In the 2013-14 season, Garcia played in 55 games for Houston, averaging 5.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in 19.7 minutes. He shot 35.8 percent from 3-point range, and is a career 36.1 percent shooter from outside. He only played 22 minutes over two games for the Rockets in the playoffs when they lost to the Portland Trail Blazers.
