A year of globetrotting ends in Sacramento.
The Sacramento Kings announced the signing of unrestricted free agent point guard Aaron Brooks on Monday. Brooks' deal will reportedly be worth $6.6 million over two years, according to SI.com and the Sacramento Bee.
To clear a roster spot for Brooks' addition, the Kings announced on Monday that they were releasing forward Hassan Whiteside.
Brooks, 27, did not play in the NBA during the 2011-12 season, as he signed to play in China during the NBA Lockout. Brooks' Guangdong Tigers lost to the Beijing Ducks, led by former NBA All-Star Stephon Marbury, in the Chinese Baskeball Association's Finals.
Brooks was traded by the Houston Rockets to the Phoenix Suns during the 2010-11 season. A quick, undersized point guard, he holds career averages of 12.5 points and 3.6 assists in four NBA seasons.
The former Oregon Ducks guard will join a backcourt that also includes Tyreke Evans, Marcus Thornton, Jimmer Fredette, and Isaiah Thomas.
