Thornton supplied 42 points (15-25 FG, 5-12 3Pt, 7-7 FT), five rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block in 34 minutes Sunday in Grand Rapids' 102-97 win over Maine.
The scoring haul was a new G League career high for Thornton, who boosted his season-long average to 23.1 points per game. The veteran shooting guard hasn't appeared in any NBA game since the 2016-17 season, but his recent string of performances in the G League could earn him a promotion at some point in the next month and a half.

Thorton finished Wednesday's 142-112 drubbing of the BayHawks with 40 points (14-22 FG, 11-17 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five assists, five steals, four rebounds, and a blocked shot.
Perhaps not surprisingly, Wednesday's 40-point outing was a season-high mark for any Drive player to date. Of course, that was due in large part to the the 33 points scored from three, which broke a franchise record set by Jordan Crawford in 2016. Thornton has proven to be a streaky shooter in the past, but remains on pace to exceed his career scoring averages in the G League.

Thorton posted 37 points (15-25 FG, 5-13 3Pt, 2-6 FT), three rebounds, three steals and two assists in the loss Monday to the Go-Go.
Thorton continues to lead the way for a Drive squad still missing a handful of regulars in the backcourt. The veteran guard has scored 30-plus points twice in the past two weeks and figures to be a relevant fantasy option so long as Zach Lofton continues to miss time.

Thornton scored 33 points (13-22 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 3-6 FT) to go along with three rebounds, three assists and two steals in the win Thursday over Northern Arizona.
The 33 points is quite obviously a season-high, as the veteran guard has played in just nine games with Grand Rapids this season. Consistently around the 18-20 point range when he takes the court, Thornton is expected to remain in contention for a starting role even when the likes of Keenan Evans (knee) and Zach Lofton (hamstring) return to the court.

Thornton is signing a 10-day contract with the Cavaliers, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Thornton hasn't played an NBA game since the 2016-2017 season, when he played 33 games for the Washington Wizards. He's spent the entirety of his season with the G-League's Grand Rapids Drive, where he's averaged 18.9 points over 24.6 minutes.Thornton likely won't see much time with the Cavaliers, as they run fairly deep on the wing.
