  • Keith Appling: Arrests for third time in 2016

Appling was arrested Sunday night in Detroit, Robert Allen of the Detroit Free Press reports. He was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, resisting and obstructing police, third-degree fleeing and eluding and felony firearm.

Police had stopped Appling after he committed a traffic violation and noticed an odor of marijuana in his vehicle. After asking for Appling's driver's license, the 24-year-old, who appeared in five games with the Magic last season, drove away and threw a personalized bag out of his window, which contained a handgun. Police later caught up to him and took him into custody. It's the third arrest in the last four months for Appling, which likely spells an end to any chance he had at returning to the NBA in the near future.

  • Magic's Keith Appling: Signs another 10-day contract with team

Appling will sign a second 10-day contract with the Magic, Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Appling appeared in two games last week as the third-string point guard behind Elfrid Payton and Shabazz Napier, but with Victor Oladipo (knee) since rejoining the mix, the rookie's role has decline. He hasn't played in the last two games and likely won't be much more than an emergency option for the Magic the rest of the way.

  • Magic's Keith Appling: Signs 10-day contract with Magic

Appling agreed to a 10-day contract with the Magic on Saturday, Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Appling has most recently been playing with the Erie Bayhawks of the D-League, where he's taken part in 17 games and posted averages of 16.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 2.1 steals over 31 minutes. With C.J. Watson (calf) and Shabazz Napier (illness) dealing with their respective issues, the Magic were looking for some extra help in the backcourt, so Appling will get the call. Look for him to start his stint with the Magic as a deep reserve at point guard.
