Chris Kunitz: Announces retirement
Kunitz will hang up his skates and join the Blackhawks' staff as a Player Development Advisor.
Over the course of Kunitz's 15-year NHL career, he played for Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Chicago and Anaheim, but spent the bulk of his time in Pittsburgh. The gritty winger would lift Lord Stanley's cup four times, as well as winning a gold medal in Sochi at the 2014 Winter Olympics with Team Canada. In all, the 39-year-old recorded 268 goals and 351 assists in 1,022 regular-season contests, plus another 93 points in 178 playoff games.

Blackhawks' Chris Kunitz: Buries goal
Kunitz potted a goal and posted two hits in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Sharks.
The 39-year-old winger has seen less than 10 minutes of ice time in his last six appearances while holding down a spot on the fourth line. Kunitz does have a pair of goals and two assists in 13 appearances in March, but he's long past being a reliable fantasy contributor.

Blackhawks' Chris Kunitz: Struggling to find ice time
Kunitz has only averaged 6:40 of ice time during his last four appearances.
The Blackhawks definitely value what Kunitz brings to their locker room as a 15-year NHL veteran, but coach Jeremy Colliton is clearly only comfortable with deploying him in an extremely limited role. The former Penguin will likely continue to average less than eight minutes of ice time per game as Chicago battles for a wild-card spot down the stretch.

Blackhawks' Chris Kunitz: Set to play 1,000th career game
Kunitz will not play in Boston on Tuesday, but he will be in the lineup Thursday at home against the Devils, Eric Lear of the Blackhawks' official site reports.
The veteran has only found the scoresheet four times in 33 games this season, but 1,000 NHL games is a very impressive milestone. While he carries very little fantasy value these days, hockey fans, if only for a moment, should pay their respects to Kunitz on Thursday, as many expect the 39-year-old will retire at the conclusion of the 2018-19 season. Kunitz is an Olympic gold medalist and four-time Stanley Cup champion.

Kunitz scored his first goal of 2018-19 in a 5-3 win over the Penguins on Sunday.
The oh-so-sweet goal represented Kunitz's third point of the season in 24 games. The veteran has gotten lost in the shuffle, with the Blackhawks focused more on giving their younger players opportunities. While Sunday's marker will warm the hearts of hockey fans, we don't recommend rushing to add the 39-year-old to your fantasy lineup.

Kunitz has struggled mightily in 2018-19, tallying just a pair of assists in 23 games. The Blackhawks' forward last found the scoresheet Oct. 31.
It's been a forgettable season for the 39-year-old, once-upon-a-time Olympian. Kunitz is playing 10:10 per game in his first season with the suddenly woeful Blackhawks and will likely consider retirement at the conclusion of the current campaign. He's no longer relevant in fantasy and can be safely ignored in all formats.

Blackhawks' Chris Kunitz: Reaches deal with Original Six club
Kunitz signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Blackhawks on Sunday, according to TSN.
Kunitz, who will be 39 years old when the 2018-19 campaign begins, played all 82 games for Tampa Bay last season and racked up 13 goals and 16 assists. After three straight 200-plus-hit seasons, Kunitz regressed to 131 collisions in 2017-18. He figures into a bottom-six role with Chicago.

Chris Kunitz: Needs new team
Kunitz doesn't want to retire, but he won't be offered a contract by the Lightning, Joe Smith of The Athletic Tampa Bay reports.
Kunitz, a four-time Stanley Cup champion, isn't going to offer elite-level offensive production anymore -- he notched just 29 points last season -- but the veteran can still be a depth contributor in a bottom-six role. A team looking to add the winger can likely expect to pay between $1-2 million, which is a relative bargain given his experience.

Kunitz, who delivered one assist in 17 playoff games, will become a free agent July 1.
Kunitz turns 38 in September and will be looking for one last contract; it just might not be with the Lightning. The Bolts will likely shuffle the deck and go cheaper and younger. Kunitz delivered 29 points (13 goals, 16 assists) in 82 regular-season games while toiling in the bottom six. He may still have value in a limited role on the ice, but his fantasy value disappeared long ago.

Lightning's Chris Kunitz: Three-point night in Tuesday's OT win
Kunitz notched a goal and two assists while adding three shots on net, two blocked shots, a hit and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Predators.
It was an impressive all-around effort for the veteran winger. Kunitz has has been one of the few disappointments in the potent Lightning offense this season, managing just one lonely assist over a brutal 18-game slump that lasted through most of December and January, but with four points in his last two games he may finally be emerging from his funk.
