Udrih was waived by the Pistons on Sunday.
Udrih failed to get on the floor during the preseason and was essentially just brought in as a training camp body. With the likes of Reggie Jackson, Ish Smith and Langston Galloway all in the fold at point guard, there was no need to keep Udrih around for the regular season. The 13-year veteran could get some looks elsewhere as a solid mentor for younger players, though he won't be a fantasy relevant player no matter where he lands.

Pistons' Beno Udrih: Will remain with Detroit
Updating a previous report, Udrih (knee) will remain with the Pistons for the rest of the season, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reports.
Earlier Monday, Charania reported that the Pistons would release Udrih in order to sign Lorenzo Brown from the D-League, but the NBA's transaction deadline passed Sunday, and the team was unable to make the roster move. As a result, Brown will remain in the D-League, while Udrih will stick with the Pistons for the final two games of the season. According to Rod Beard of The Detroit News, coach Stan Van Gundy isn't optimistic that Udrih, who suffered a right knee sprain Sunday against the Grizzlies, will be available for those remaining two contests, which was why the Pistons were looking to release him. Udrih's injury will likely force Ish Smith to take on a heavier workload at point guard, while wings Darrun Hilliard and Stanley Johnson could initiate the offense when Smith is off the floor.

The veteran guard is battling a sprained right knee that likely would have kept him out of the final two games of the season. As a result, the Pistons plan to add healthier depth at point guard by signing Lorenzo Brown, who attended training camp with the club in the fall before being waived. The 34-year-old Udrih had appeared in 39 games with the Pistons, averaging 5.8 points, 3.4 assists and 1.5 rebounds in 14.4 minutes per game. Udrih was set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, so the decision to release him comes with minimal financial ramifications.

Pistons' Beno Udrih: May not play in final two games
Udrih is dealing with a right knee sprain, though hasn't gotten X-rays yet, Aaron McMann of the MLive Media Group reports. For that reason, Coach Stan Van Gundy is "not optimistic" about Udrih playing in the Pistons' final two outings, Rod Beard of The Detroit News reports.
Udrih likely suffered the injury during Sunday's tilt against the Grizzlies, where he totaled 11 points (5-7 FG, 1-1 3Pt), five assists and two rebounds across 21 minutes. With Reggie Jackson (knee) ruled out for the season, the burden of the point guard role could solely fall on Ish Smith, who has taken over as the Pistons' starting point guard since Jackson was shut down. More information will likely come about the seriousness of Udrih's injury once the X-ray results become available, after which point Stan Van Gundy could make a decision about who will spend time at point guard over the last two contests if Udrih is sidelined.

Udrih finished with four points (2-7 FG), five assists, one rebound and one steal across 19 minutes in a 114-109 win over the Rockets on Friday.
The Pistons' decision to shut down Reggie Jackson (knee) for the season has opened up a rotation spot for Udrih, who is now regularly seeing minutes in the teens while backing up Ish Smith. While the veteran has performed capably in that capacity, he's unlikely to see his role increase over the final three games of the regular season, especially with Smith continuing to play well. Udrih has averaged 6.6 points, 5.0 assists, 2.3 rebounds in 16.6 minutes per game since entering the rotation seven games ago.
