NFL Coaching Rumor Roundup: Tuesday, Jan. 15

Tuesday, Jan. 15

2:52 p.m.
Browns CEO Joe Banner told reporters that he has a front-runner in mind for his top personnel man and that the first wave of interviews for that position almost is complete.

12:52 p.m.
There has been speculation Tuesday morning about Gus Bradley and the Eagles, and CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports that their second meeting is set for later Tuesday. "He is highly thought of there," La Canfora writes.

12:42 p.m.
As the Jets continue to meet with GM candidates, Rex Ryan hasn't been involved with the interviews, according to NFL.com.

12:05 p.m.
The Chargers have their new head coach, according to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora. As he's been reporting all Tuesday morning, that's former Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy.

11:12 a.m.
Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley interviewed last week for the Cardinals head coaching job, but according to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, Haley set an asking price that was "very high" because he's happy in his current job.

10:25 a.m.
With Mike McCoy headed to San Diego, CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora speculates that Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden could be the Cardinals' top choice for their head coaching job.

10:21 a.m.
Bears special-teams coach Dave Toub is one of the 13 reported candidates to interview for the Chicago head coaching job, but the Chicago Tribune reports that if he doesn't get it, he won't return to the team. Instead, Toub could join Andy Reid's staff in Kansas City.

10:11 a.m.
The Jets are still looking for the GM who will work with Rex Ryan in 2013. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Seahawks executive John Idzik is scheduled to interview with New York on Wednesday.

9:39 a.m.
With Mike McCoy set to take the Chargers head coaching job, CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports that former Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt could get the Broncos offensive coordinator job if he fails to land the Eagles head coaching job. La Canfora cites a relationship with Peyton Manning as one reason why that could happen.

9:36 a.m.
According to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, the Chargers are nearing a deal with Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, who could be named the new Chargers coach as early as Tuesday. .
