Odrick signed a five-year, $42.5 million deal with Jacksonville in 2015, and although he went on to lead the Jags with 5.5 sacks that year, he missed 10 games this past season due to a shoulder injury, limiting him to merely 12 tackles and one sack. In cutting the 29-year-old, who will become a free agent upon his release, Jacksonville is set to save $8.5 million in cap room.
Odrick (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Jacksonville.com reports.
Odrick has dealt with a rash of ailments in 2016, the latest being a shoulder injury suffered in Week 11 against Detroit. He also dealt with triceps, quadriceps and ankle issues. Ultimately, the former first-round defensive end -- and third-most expensive player on the team this season -- managed just 12 tackles across six games. The Jaguars could save $8.5 million by cutting him in the offseason.
Odrick (shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday's contest against the Vikings.
Odrick will miss his third consecutive game, while Tyson Alualu figures to draw the start at defensive end opposite Dante Fowler.
Odrick (shoulder) did not participate in Wednesday's practice.
Odrick has missed back-to-back games due to the shoulder injury, and may be in line for another week on the sideline if he's unable return to practice later this week. In such a case, Alualu would be in line to start at defensive end.
Odrick (shoulder) has been ruled out of Sunday's game versus the Broncos, Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union reports.
Odrick wasn't at practice this week and is now set to miss his sixth game of the 2016 campaign. Tyson Alualu projects to take his place in the starting lineup.
