Rob Housler has fallen out of favor
by Larry Hartstein |

Tight end Rob Housler is currently No. 4 on the depth chart with the Cardinals, behind John Carlson, Jake Ballard and rookie Troy Niklas, reports Housler is "just not the type of tight end head coach Bruce Arians prefers," the website said.

Housler is entering the final year of his contract. He caught 39 passes for 454 yards and a touchdown last season.

Rob Housler's role not safe?
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer

The Cardinals have a bevy of tight ends on the roster including recent free-agent signee John Carlson and draft pick Troy Niklas. According to their official website, Carlson and veteran Jake Ballard had a lot of work in recent OTA workouts, leaving tight end Rob Housler in the precarious position of having to "work hard to stay up on the depth chart."

Housler posted career highs across the board last season, grabbing 39 passes for 454 yards and a touchdown. Those totals appear to be in jeopardy.

Arians' style won't benefit Rob Housler
by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer

Don't look for Cardinals tight end Rob Housler to have a big season in 2014. That's not how coach Bruce Arians uses tight ends, reports the team's official website.

Arians cited Heath Miller as the best tight end in the NFL because of his blocking.

"Tight ends for me block first, catch second," Arians said.

So for Housler, who is a catch-first guy, this isn't likely going to be a huge season when it comes to receptions. He had 39 catches for 454 yards and a touchdown in 2013 in his first season under Arians.

Rob Housler facing 'make-or-break' year
by Larry Hartstein |

Cardinals tight end Rob Housler is entering the final year of his rookie deal and it's "likely a make-or-break season for him to stay healthy and be consistent," reports the team's website. Housler caught 39 passes for 454 yards and a touchdown last season while battling groin and ankle injuries.

The Cardinals need to add a tight end even if free agent backup Jim Dray returns, according to the website.

Cardinals get offensive contributions from role players in finale
by Igor Mello |

The Cardinals received several offensive contributions from a few role players during Sunday's loss to the 49ers in Week 17.

Tight Rob Housler led the way with five grabs for 78 yards on six targets. Stepfan Taylor rushed for seven yards on two carries and had one reception for 7 yards. Jim Dray caught one pass for a gain of 18 yards. Jaron Brown and Brittan Golden were each targeted once but held without a grab in a 23-20 defeat.
