Allen (quadriceps) is questionable to play against the Chiefs this weekend, Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Allen has missed the past two games with the an injury to his quadriceps and was limited in every practice this week. Brynden Trawick projects to assume his duties as the backup free safety if Allen is ultimately ruled out.
Allen wasn't able to play in Week 4 either and is officially without a timetable for return. Brynden Trawick will back up starting free safety Reggie Nelson once again during Allen's Week 5 absence.
Allen did not participate in in practice on Thursday or Friday after being limited on Wednesday. It remains unclear what the specifics of his injury are and he's without a timetable to return at this point. Look for Brynden Trawick to see some added reps in the meantime.
Veteran Reggie Nelson was listed as the starter in the unofficial depth charts released during the preseason, but Allen takes over the role as the team heads into Week 1. In his first season in Oakland last year, Allen racked up 11 tackles and one interception in five games.
