Andre Williams rushed for two yards on two carries in Sunday's loss to New England.
Coming off of his third-largest workload of the season before the bye, Williams saw the field for all of two snaps on Sunday, a season low. A large part of Sunday's low snapcount is attributable to the New York Giants ' commitment to the pass, as the team attempted 44 throws - Eli Manning's second highest total of the season. It also illustrates how fickle Williams' role is in New York. The second-year back has topped 40 yards just once this season and has scored once. He should not be on most fantasy rosters.
Andre Williams carried the ball seven times for 30 yards in Sunday's win over Tampa Bay. He added a seven-yard reception on one target.
The catch was Williams' first of the season and his 13 offensive snaps were his most since Week 4. Eight touches on 13 plays is an excellent usage rate, but, with three other backs in the mix, many more snaps are unlikely to be forthcoming. With just one score on the season, Williams is not likely to vulture enough touchdowns to be worth a pickup.
Andre Williams rushed for 13 yards on four carries in Sunday's win over Dallas.
Things have gone from bad to worse for Williams, who saw his spot on the pecking order move further down with Orleans Darkwa taking the field. Shane Vereen saw the field for 23 snaps on Sunday, according to Pro Football Focus, followed by Darkwa, Rashad Jennings and Williams with 14, 11 and five snaps, respectively. The fact that Williams touched the ball on 80 percent of his snaps is impressive, but the sheer lack of volume should knock Williams off of any fantasy rosters he managed to stick around on.
Andre Williams rushed for six yards on five carries in Monday's loss to Philadelphia.
Williams has now seen fewer snaps than both Rashad Jennings and Shane Vereen in five of the New York Giants ' six games after his nine snaps on Monday trailed Jennings and Vereen with 31 and 28, respectively. Williams has not managed to do much with the opportunities he has been given, averaging a dismal 2.8 yards per carry on 45 rushes. With Jennings, despite a mediocre 3.7 yards-per-carry average, serving as the primary rusher and Shane Vereen the main passing-downs option, Williams may see himself squeezed out of playing time for much of the rest of the season.
Andre Williams was held without a rushing yard on three carries in Sunday's win over the 49ers.
After a promising rookie year that featured seven rushing touchdowns, Williams has been deemphasized in the New York Giants ' offense thus far in 2015, ranking behind both Rashad Jennings and Shane Vereen in snaps in four of the team's first five games. That trend has continued over the past three weeks where his snaps have gone from a season high 23 in Week 3 to 18 and eight in Weeks 4 or 5. With Jennings firmly planted as the Giants' primary rusher and Vereen's role expanding weekly, it's difficult to see too many paths to the field for Williams.
