by Larry Hartstein |

As expected, the Giants listed Rashad Jennings as their starting running back. The unofficial depth chart, which could change quickly, has David Wilson as the No. 2 back followed by Peyton Hillis and rookie Andre Williams.

Giants rookie running back Andre Williams impressed coaches at Wednesday's practice and continued to be used in goal-line packages, reports the team's website. Williams "is a rookie, he’s got a lot of burst, a lot of energy and he’s very fresh, so I was excited about what he did," running backs coach Craig Johnson said.

Williams is trying to carve out a niche in a backfield that includes Rashad Jennings, David Wilson and Peyton Hillis.

Giants rookie running back Andre Williams worked in the goal-line package as the team opened training camp Tuesday, reports the New York Daily News. Williams is a 5-11, 230-pound hammer who ran for 2,177 yards and 18 touchdowns for Boston College last season.

He'll vie for carries with starter Rashad Jennings and newly cleared David Wilson.

Rashad Jennings set to start for Giants?
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer

When the Giants signed running back Rashad Jennings this summer, it was with the intention of making him their workhorse back, ESPN reports. His ability to run between the tackles as well as catch passes makes him the most versatile back on their roster.

However, that was before they drafted Andre Williams and expected David Wilson to return. ESPN believes Wilson could push Jennings for carries and catches once he's cleared and has impressed the coaches enough with his abilities. If he's healthy he'll play a role.

Williams could also develop as a rushing downs type of back though he'll have to make strides in training camp first.

Giants add RB Andre Williams in Round 4
by Igor Mello |

With the 113th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the New York Giants selected running back Andre Williams from Boston College.

Williams is a tough physical back that had some issues in receiving drills at the combine, which is why his draft stock took a hit. However, he rushed for 2,177 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2013, averaging 6.1 yards per carry. He also broke out for a 339-yard, two-touchdown performance on the ground against N.C. State.

The Giants currently have Rashad Jennings, Peyton Hillis and David Wilson under contract.
