  • Colts' Anthony Richardson: Throwing at practice

Richardson (shoulder) has resumed throwing at spring practices and looks to be healthy. Head coach Shane Steichen said in March that he expected Richardson to be ready for OTAs in May and June. Steichen's prediction looks to be coming to fruition, though the quarterback won't necessarily be a full participant in all activities coming off surgery on his throwing shoulder in October. He resumed throwing in February and is the unquestioned starting quarterback for an offense that just added wideout Adonai Mitchell in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

  • Kellen Mond: Finds work with New Orleans

The Saints signed Mond on Friday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports. Mond was a third-round pick by the Vikings in 2021 and appeared in one game as a rookie, going 2-for-3 for five yards. He was cut prior to the 2022 campaign and spent his second season as a backup in Cleveland. He then joined the Colts' practice squad last October. Mond needs to start putting some good tape together if he's going to stick in the NFL. He'll slide in behind Derek Carr, Nathan Peterman and Jake Haener on the Saints' depth chart.

  • Colts' Anthony Richardson: Should be ready for OTAs

Coach Shane Steichen noted Monday that Richardson (right shoulder) "should be" OK for the Colts' OTAs, which take place in May and early June, JJ Stankevitz of the team's official site reports. "I like where he's at," Steichen said of Richardson, who is bouncing back from surgery that he underwent on his throwing shoulder in October. "He's progressing really, really well. He's just getting better and better." Per James Boyd of The Athletic, Richardson began throwing again last month, and, considering that, the 2023 first-rounder figures to be eased back into his on-field participation, at least initially. In any case, assuming no setbacks, Richardson is set to reclaim his role as the Colts' starting quarterback this coming season, with veteran signal-caller Joe Flacco now on board to work as the team's top backup.

  • Raiders' Gardner Minshew: Headed for Las Vegas

Minshew has agreed to a two-year deal with the Raiders, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Per Pelissero, Minshew's deal is for $25 million and includes $15 million fully guaranteed. Given those reported numbers, Minshew should have a chance to compete with Aidan O'Connell for the Raiders' starting QB job. Minshew -- who turns 28 in May -- recorded 3,305 passing yards to go along with 15 TDs and nine picks in 17 regular-season games (13 starts) with the Colts in 2023. With Minshew on the way out, 2023 first-rounder Anthony Richardson, who is bouncing back from a shoulder injury, is poised to reclaim Indy's starting signal-caller assignment this coming season.

  • Colts' Anthony Richardson: Resumes throwing

Richardson has resumed throwing as part of his rehab from right shoulder surgery, per a video posted to his agent Deiric Jackson's X.com account. Richardson is recovering from season-ending surgery undergone Oct. 21 to address a Grade 3 AC Joint sprain suffered Week 5. He also missed time as a rookie due to a concussion suffered Week 2, but it now looks like the 2023 No. 4 overall pick is trending to be cleared well ahead of training camp. Despite appearing in only four games as a rookie, Richardson managed to display the outlandish potential of his unique size and speed profile. With a full offseason to further his development as a signal-caller, Richardson's fantasy upside for 2024 should make him one of the hottest names at the quarterback position.

  • Colts' Gardner Minshew: Quiet in win over Vegas

Minshew completed 15 of 23 passes for 224 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Raiders. He added three rushing yards on two carries. Minshew and the Colts leaned on their running game after taking a 14-3 lead into halftime, limiting the quarterback's production, but he did help pad that lead with a 58-yard TD strike to Alec Pierce late in the second quarter. Indianapolis remains in a three-way tie atop the AFC South with Jacksonville and Houston, and as a result Minshew could be asked to do a lot more in Week 18's tilt against the Texans with a potential division title on the line.

  • Colts' Gardner Minshew: Tosses three TDs in Week 15

Minshew completed 18 of 28 passes for 215 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions and also had two carries for no yards during Saturday's 30-13 win against the Steelers. Despite losing his top two available skill-position players in wide receiver Michael Pittman (concussion) and running back Zack Moss (arm) in the first half, Minshew tossed a trio of scores, marking the fifth time he's done so in his 46 career appearances. Minshew connected with eight different players, but only three of his 18 completions went for 20-plus yards, dampening his yards per attempt to 7.7. While there's a chance RB Jonathan Taylor (thumb) returns to action Week 16, Minshew again may be working with a compromised skill group Sunday, Dec. 24 in Atlanta considering the two injuries that befell the Colts on Saturday.

  • Colts' Gardner Minshew: Solid numbers in Week 14 loss

Minshew completed 26 of 39 passes for 240 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the Colts' 34-14 loss to the Bengals on Sunday. He also rushed twice for five yards and threw a two-point conversion pass. Minshew put together his usual reasonably solid numbers, finishing with his third straight productive effort through the air. Minshew connected with Mo Alie-Cox for his only touchdown pass, a two-yard toss late in the first half. The veteran signal-caller completed passes with eight different targets overall, and he'll aim to continue his current stretch of strong play against the Steelers in a Week 15 home matchup on Saturday afternoon.

  • Colts' Gardner Minshew: Two touchdowns, 312 yards in win

Minshew completed 26 of 42 passes for 312 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 31-28 overtime win over the Titans. Minshew lost a fumble near the Tennessee goal line late in the second quarter, but he played a clean game otherwise. He delivered long completions of 55, 46 and 36 yards -- the final of which was a touchdown to Alec Pierce -- to top 300 passing yards for the third time on the campaign. Minshew also connected with Michael Pittman on a four-yard score to clinch the overtime victory, marking the first time that he managed multiple passing touchdowns since Week 8.

  • Colts' Gardner Minshew: Solid numbers in Week 12 win

Minshew completed 24 of 41 passes for 251 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in the Colts' 27-20 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday. He also rushed three times for six yards and a score and fumbled once but recovered. Minshew wasn't able to get his team in the end zone through the air, but he put together a solid yardage total against a short-handed Buccaneers defense and also contributed a two-yard scoring rush early in the second quarter. Minshew unsurprisingly focused the most on Michael Pittman, who was on the receiving end of 10 of his completions, and standout rookie Josh Downs, who posted a 5-43 line. Minshew's yardage total was his highest since Week 7, and he'll now turn his focus to a Week 13 divisional road clash against the Titans.

  • Colts' Gardner Minshew: Underwhelming in win

Minshew completed 18 of 28 passes for 194 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 10-6 win over New England. The Colts were able to rely heavily on Jonathan Taylor to escape with the win, as he carried the ball 23 times compared to Minshew's 28 pass attempts. Despite the limited volume, Minshew made plays when needed, including a 28-yard completion to Josh Downs to help clinch the victory. While he's helped the Colts to wins, Minshew now has one or fewer touchdowns in four of the six games he's started.

  • Colts' Gardner Minshew: Mistake-free ball in win

Minshew completed 17 of 26 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-13 win over the Panthers. He also gained five yards on five carries. Minshew didn't need to do much on a day when the Indianapolis defense intercepted Bryce Young three times and returned two of them to the house, but the QB did toss a screen pass to Jonathan Taylor in the second quarter that turned into a 10-yard touchdown. More importantly. Minshew didn't commit a turnover after getting picked off five times and losing four fumbles over the last three games, giving him a boost of confidence heading into a Week 10 matchup with the Patriots.

  • Colts' Gardner Minshew: Mediocre numbers in loss

Minshew completed 23 of 41 passes for 213 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in the Colts' 38-27 loss to the Saints on Sunday. He also rushed once for three yards. Minshew put together an inefficient day overall that highlighted some of his shortcomings as a passer. Minshew did keep the Colts in the game for the majority of the afternoon and connected with Michael Pittman and Drew Ogletree for scoring passes of 10 and 33 yards, respectively, for the quarterback's second straight multi-touchdown effort, but he also threw an interception for the third consecutive contest. Minshew's first opportunity to bounce back comes in a Week 9 road battle against the Panthers.

  • Colts' Anthony Richardson: Undergoes surgery

Richardson underwent successful surgery Tuesday to address a Grade 3 AC joint sprain in his right shoulder, Colts owner Jim Irsay announced via his personal Twitter account. The Colts placed Richardson on injured reserve Oct. 11 after he sustained the shoulder injury Week 5. The surgery will end Richardson's rookie season, but the Colts are optimistic that he'll be fully healthy ahead of the 2024 campaign. Gardner Minshew will continue serving as the team's starting signal-caller in place of Richardson.

  • Colts' Gardner Minshew: Four total touchdowns

Minshew completed 15 of 23 passes for 305 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 39-38 loss to the Browns. He added three rushes for 29 yards and two additional scores. Though the score indicates this was a shootout, the Colts came out with a focus on the ground game as they had 40 rushing attempts compared to Minshew's 23 passes. He made an impact in both areas of the game, as he launched a pair of long touchdowns that went for 59 and 75 yards to Josh Downs and Michael Pittman, respectively. Minshew also showed surprising effectiveness with his legs, rushing for scores of 17 and four yards. On the downside, he committed four total turnovers including three lost fumbles, with one of them resulting in a defensive touchdown for Cleveland. The Colts aren't likely to ask him to do too much moving forward, but they have the skill-position players to make plays, which could result in spike performances like Sunday's on occasion for Minshew.

  • Colts' Gardner Minshew: Looks set to start rest of season

Minshew appears set to serve as the Colts' starting quarterback for the remainder of the campaign after Indianapolis announced Wednesday that Anthony Richardson (shoulder) is scheduled for season-ending surgery. Minshew had already been primed for at least a four-game starting run after the Colts placed Richardson on injured reserve last week, but now that the rookie signal-caller is set to undergo surgery, Minshew will have a longer leash atop the depth chart. The Colts could still explore further options at quarterback, but even after a sloppy performance during Sunday's loss to the Jaguars, Minshew is likely the team's best option moving forward for the foreseeable future. The veteran struggled with turnovers versus Jacksonville, completing 33 of 55 passes for 329 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions while also losing one fumble. On deck Week 7 is a tough matchup against a Browns defense that put the clamps on Brock Purdy and the 49ers offense in Week 6.

  • Colts' Anthony Richardson: Season-ending surgery possible

The Colts are "strongly" considering the possibility of Richardson (shoulder) undergoing season-ending surgery to address his Grade 3 right AC joint sprain, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Indianapolis is reportedly trying to decide whether season-ending surgery is the best option for ensuring that Richardson is able to recover fully without setbacks, though such a procedure would end his rookie campaign prematurely after just four appearances. Richardson has already sought opinions from at least four specialists, though an MRI revealed the labrum in his right shoulder isn't torn. The Colts could feel confident turning to Gardner Minshew to direct the offense for the rest of the season, if necessary. Even so, if Richardson finishes his rookie season with just four appearances, it would give the Colts an incomplete evaluation in determining whether he's the franchise's long-term answer under center.

  • Colts' Gardner Minshew: Starting at least next four games

Minshew is set to start at quarterback for Indianapolis for at least the next four contests after the Colts placed Anthony Richardson (shoulder) on injured reserve Wednesday, Stephen Holder of ESPN.com reports. As a result of landing on IR, Richardson won't be eligible to return to action until the Colts' Week 10 matchup with the Patriots. However, with a bye on tap for the Colts in Week 11 and with Holder reporting that Richardson's recovery timeline for his AC joint sprain could range between 4-to-8 weeks, Minshew could have a decent chance at picking up more than four starts, assuming he steers clear of an injury himself. Meanwhile, Indianapolis also signed Kellen Mond to the practice squad, which will provide some additional emergency depth for the quarterback room heading into a Week 6 matchup against Jacksonville.

  • Colts' Gardner Minshew: Relieves injured Richardson

Minshew completed 11 of 14 passes for 155 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 23-16 win over the Titans. Minshew entered the game late in the second quarter after Anthony Richardson suffered a shoulder injury. The Colts had a modest 10-6 lead at the time, and Minshew moved the offense efficiently enough to keep that lead -- though Zack Moss proved to be the primary force for the unit. The extent of Richardson's injury is not yet clear, and Minshew could be in line to start in Week 6 in a pivotal divisional matchup against the Jaguars.

  • Colts' Anthony Richardson: Won't return Sunday

Richardson (shoulder) has been ruled out for a return to the second half of Sunday's game against the Titans, Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star reports. Gardner Minshew will direct the Indianapolis offense for the rest of the day. Richardson finishes the Week 5 contest with nine completions on 12 attempts for 98 yards and two carries for five yards. In addition to missing the Colts' Week 3 win over the Ravens while recovering from a concussion, the rookie quarterback has now left early due to injury in two of his first four NFL starts. He'll likely have his right shoulder injury evaluated further in the coming days, leaving his status for the Colts' Week 6 game at Jacksonville uncertain at the moment.
