Perillo was released by the Packers on Saturday.
Perillo totaled 35 yards across four receptions for Green Bay this season. His release likely implies No. 1 tight end Jared Cook (ankle) will be ready to go Sunday against the Redskins.
Perillo caught two passes for 18 yards in Sunday's loss to the Colts.
The two receptions -- and in turn, targets -- along with the 18 yards were season highs for Perillo, but they were also his first offensive statistics since Week 6. He will remain the backup tight end behind Richard Rodgers until Jared Cook (ankle) is able to return, at which point he will slide down a spot on the depth chart and serve as the Packers' No. 3 tight end.

Perillo followed up DNPs on Wednesday and Thursday with a limited showing Friday, clearing the way for active status in Week 1. Working behind Jared Cook and Richard Rodgers, Perillo likely won't earn more than a handful of snaps in the opener.
