Redskins' Vernon Davis: Set to replace Jordan Reed again
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Davis' teammate Jordan Reed (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game in Detroit, meaning the veteran will draw another start.

Davis filled in for an injured Reed last week, catching two of four targets for 50 yards and a touchdown while logging 72 of 74 offensive snaps against an Eagles defense that's allowed just eight receptions to tight ends all season. This week's opponent, Detroit, has been far more generous to the position, having surrendered a league-high seven touchdowns on 33 catches. The 32-year-old Davis hasn't done much since 2013, but he does have a nice opportunity to turn back the clock this week.

Redskins' Vernon Davis: Touchdown in win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Davis hauled in two receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's divisional win over the Eagles.

With Jordan Reed out of the game due to a concussion, the veteran Davis was given a starting opportunity on Sunday and made the most of it, scoring one of Washington's three offensive touchdowns. Reed's status for Week 7 is still up in the air, as he will need to pass league protocol testing before he can return to the field. In the meantime, look for Davis to continue as the No. 1 tight end, giving him a boost in fantasy value.

Redskins' Vernon Davis: Expected to start at TE
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Davis is expected to start at tight end Sunday against Philadelphia with Jordan Reed out with a concussion, ESPN's Adam Caplan reports.

Davis' playing time was already on the rise as last week he had his third straight game with at least 33 offensive snaps. He had four targets last week and that's likely to increase with Reed out for this week and possibly much longer.

Redskins' Vernon Davis: Catches three passes against Ravens
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Davis saw four targets come his way in Sunday's win over Baltimore, grabbing three for 15 yards.

It was Davis' third-straight game with at least 33 offensive snaps, but it was the first time during the span that he was able to convert that playing time into multiple receptions. Davis has the potential to provide an additional down-field element to a Washington offense that already has such a threat in Jordan Reed, but any big-time performance would be a surprise. Davis hasn't scored in 33 consecutive games.

Redskins' Vernon Davis: Goes catchless against the Giants
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Davis was not targeted during Sunday's win over the Giants.

Davis failed to build on Week 2's five-catch performance while tight end Jordan Reed and receivers DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon and Jamison Crowder all saw at least seven targets. Davis' days as a reliable tight end seem to be behind him and he may be more impressive in reputation than function. The once-stellar tight end hasn't put together consecutive five-catch games since Weeks 2 and 3 of the 2012 season.
