  • Lions' Jameson Williams: Gets subtle vote of confidence

Williams is part of a WR room that didn't add any new bodies during the 2024 NFL Draft.

It's a subtle vote of confidence in the 12th overall pick from the 2022 NFL Draft, as Detroit's roster otherwise has a slew of fourth-receiver types behind Williams and Amon-Ra St. Brown, namely Kalif Raymond, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Antoine Green and Tre'Quan Smith. The No. 2 receiver spot may not be a high-volume task in an offense with ARSB, TE Sam LaPorta and an excellent RB duo, but it's nonetheless a positive sign for Williams that the Lions didn't prioritize adding competition for him this offseason. While he made a bunch of big plays down the stretch last season, Williams has played only 522 regular-season snaps on offense to this point in his career and has never caught more than five passes in a game.

  • Lions' Christian Mahogany: Perfect fit in Detroit

The Lions selected Mahogany in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 210th overall.

Mahogany gained a reputation for playing with intensity in his five years at Boston College, and he earned All-ACC honors in his last two healthy seasons. Projected as a mid-round pick, he may have slipped further than anticipated due to a torn ACL that forced him to miss the entire 2022 campaign. The Lions were likely attracted to his mean streak on the field, and he'll bring the ability to play both right and left guard to the team's offensive line.

  • Lions' Mekhi Wingo: Lands in Detroit

The Lions selected Wingo in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 189th overall.

The Lions traded up to select Wingo, who some believed could be an earlier Day 2 selection. A bit undersized to be a true nose tackle at 6-foot, 286 pounds, the 21-year-old tallied 8.5 sacks throughout the course of this three seasons with LSU and played nearly every defensive snap over the final two years when healthy. Detroit spent the majority of the first two days of the draft beefing up its secondary, but Wingo could make an immediate difference along the interior of the defensive unit in his rookie season.

  • Lions' Giovanni Manu: Makes way to Detroit

The Lions selected Manu in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 126th overall.

Manu was a key part of the offensive line at the University of British Columbia, playing both left tackle and left guard. He has a massive frame (6-foot-8, 350 pounds) that the Lions will try to mold into a productive pro, though it will take time. Manu's selection is also noteworthy in that he's the first NFL Draft pick to come from the University of British Columbia since 2016.
