Russia was eliminated from the Olympics on Wednesday but Alex Ovechkin is going to stay in Russia for a while longer with a family emergency.
Speaking to the media in Washington on Thursday, Capitals general manager George McPhee said that Ovechkin's father underwent surgery after suffering an apparent heart attack.
McPhee says Ovechkin’s father had what is believed to be a heart attack, underwent surgery but is stable. Not sure when Ovi will be back

Certainly it has been a tough and stressful few days for the Ovechkin family with the immense pressure on Russia and the disappointment that came with being eliminated. This puts the perspective back in losing in the Olympic hockey tournament.
Ovi gave an update on Friday and things look good for this dad.
Thanks to all for support. My dad going to be good and he see you all again !!!
