Thanks to Martin Hanzal's overtime goal the Phoenix Coyotes were able to survive against the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night to grab the early series lead with a 3-2 overtime win.
The Coyotes were just 14 seconds away from winning the game in regulation but a Brent Seabrook goal late in the third period sent the game to overtime.
The game itself played out the way it should have been expected. Chicago spent most of the night in the offensive zone and the Coyotes had to rely on Mike Smith to keep them in it, which he did by stopping 43 of the 45 shots he faced on the night. Smith was outstanding, as he's been all year for Phoenix.
Here's a look at the goal Hanzal scored at the 9:29 mark of the overtime period shortly after winning an offensive zone faceoff.
The game also had some controversy as the Coyotes first goal -- which was scored by Taylor Pyatt -- was scored shortly after what appeared to be a missed too many men on the ice call near the bench.

This of course happened just one day after linesmen in Pittsburgh missed an offside call on a Danny Briere goal that helped spark the Flyers come-from-behind win against the Penguins.
So far, it hasn't been the best postseason for the men in stripes.
