New York Islanders defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky reportedly escaped major injury after he crashed his Ferrari 458 head on into a barrier during a race in Slovakia.

According to Matias Strozyk Visnovsky had permission from the Islanders to participate in the race at the Slovakia Ring motor circuit. He apparently lost control of the car coming out of a turn and went into the barrier.

Visnovsky spent the 2011-12 season with the Anaheim Ducks, scoring six goals to go with 21 assists in 68 games. That noticeable drop from the 68 points (tops among all defensemen) he scored the previous year.

The Ducks traded Visnovsky on draft day to the Islanders for a second-round draft pick. He has since filed a grievance with the NHLPA in an effort to void that trade since he believes a no-trade clause that was a part of his contract should have still been valid.
