  • Pavel Datsyuk: Re-signs with KHL club

Datsyuk agreed to terms on a one-year deal with KHL club Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg on Friday, per agent Dan Milstein.

Datsyuk notched five goals and 17 helpers in 43 appearances for Yekaterinburg last season and will continue playing despite being 41 years of age. At some point, the Russian center will retire having logged 953 NHL games for the Red Wings, in which he tallied 314 goals and 604 assists.

  • Pavel Datsyuk: Staying in Russia

Datsyuk agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg (KHL) on Wednesday.

After once again flirting with a return to the Red Wings, Datsyuk will be staying in the KHL for another year. Considering the center will turn 41 this summer, it's probably safe to assume his time in the NHL has come to a close, though a 42-point campaign with SKA St. Petersburg last season will likely keep the rumor mill turning until the veteran announces his retirement. For now, Datsyuk will keep plying his trade in Russia, this time for his hometown club.

  • Pavel Datsyuk: Could return to Red Wings

Datsyuk will continue playing hockey next season, and a reunion tour with the Red Wings is considered a possibility, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Datsyuk produced 918 points (314 goals, 604 assists) over 14 seasons with the Red Wings before forgoing the final year of his contract in July of 2016 -- the Coyotes ended up absorbing his $7.5 million cap hit to come closer to the cap floor with every intention of letting him play for SKA St. Petersburg, where he's been since the start of the 2016-17 campaign. There's always a chance that Datsyuk stays put in the KHL, but a dream scenario for Wings fans would include the "Magic Man" reuniting with the storied franchise following the path of another franchise legend, Steve Yzerman, who has officially succeeded Ken Holland as the general manager.

  • Pavel Datsyuk: May return to NHL next season

Datsyuk, whose KHL contract ends after this season, hasn't ruled out a return to the NHL next season, reports NHL.com.

"I can tell you Pavel is not ready to quit hockey in next few years," his agent, Dan Milstein, told Match TV in Russia. "So again, it's up to him, going to America or playing in the KHL." Datsyuk is 40, but he's still got it, at least in the KHL. He has 34 points (nine goals, 25 assists) in 44 KHL games this season. Datsyuk's game has slowed, so that will be a significant factor because the NHL has sped up significantly in the three years he has been gone.

  • Pavel Datsyuk: Re-ups with KHL club for one year

Datsyuk signed a one-year contract extension with SKA St. Petersburgh of the KHL on Tuesday, hockeybuzz.com reports.

It was widely speculated that Datsyuk -- who'll presumably be a first-ballot NHL Hall of Famer -- would return to the Red Wings, but instead, he's returning to the club with whom he's played the past two seasons. The prolific two-way legend amassed 918 points (314 goals, 604 assists) through 953 games with Detroit between 2001-16.
