Multiple reports on Sunday indicated that Georgia running back Todd Gurley would miss the remainder of the 2014 season because of a knee injury he suffered against Auburn, his first game back from NCAA suspension.

Later Sunday afternoon, the Bulldogs confirmed that Gurley tore the ACL in his left knee, an injury he suffered late in the fourth quarter of Saturday's game. Surgery has not yet been scheduled to repair the ligament.

The injury occurred on a 6-yard run with more than five minutes remaining in the contest. Instant replay showed Gurley reaching for his knee after taking very little, if any, contact, but he was able to walk to the locker room under his power.

Gurley has put together a season's worth of production in just six games with 911 rushing yards and nine touchdowns to pair with his work as a kick returner. His return to the field Saturday -- after being suspended four games as punishment for taking more than $3,000 for autographed memorabilia, a violation of NCAA rules -- was the emphatic statement so many Georgia fans expected. He rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries and nearly added a return touchdown, though it was called back due to penalty.

Gurley was not only Georgia's best individual player this season, he is also considered one of the top prospects in the upcoming NFL Draft. On Rob Rang's most recent Big Board, Gurley was ranked as the No. 7 overall prospect.
