Ohio State may be 24-0 since Urban Meyer, but there have been some close calls along the way. Last season there was the late touchdown against Cal, the one-point win over Michigan State, the comeback win over Purdue and an overtime victory over Wisconsin.
This season there was provided Ohio State with tough tests against Wisconsin once more, and against Northwestern as well.
But at no point in the last two years were Ohio State fans as nervous as they were on Saturday.
When Michigan's Devin Gardner hit Devin Funchess for a two-yard touchdown with 32 seconds left in Saturday's game, Brady Hoke didn't send out his kicker to tie the game at 42 and try to win in overtime. No, Hoke left his offense out there to go for two and the win, and end Ohio State's national title hopes.
It was going to be another classic end to another classic game between these old rivals, and what better way to end Ohio State's recent dominance?
But Devin Gardner's pass to Drew Dileo in the end zone would be picked off by Tyvis Powell, and the Buckeyes would then recover and leave Ann Arbor still perfect, but barely.
It was a game that truly had everything, and it may have been the best game of the college football season. A back-and-forth affair featuring two teams that hate each other, and weren't afraid to show that hate on the field either, as this game also featured three ejections and two middle fingers.
Another wonderful chapter in one of the rivalries that helped make this sport great.
