UCLA and Fresno State have agreed to a 2018 game to be held at the Rose Bowl, Fresno State athletic director Thomas Boeh announced on Thursday.
"We expect that this announcement will be well received," Boeh said. "Contracting this game with UCLA reflects our continued commitment to maintain a non-conference schedule that is balanced, while including competition with the nation's elite programs."
The game is scheduled for Sept. 15, 2018. UCLA will play the game a week after traveling to Norman to play Oklahoma in the first of a home-and-home series between the Bruins and Sooners for 2018-19.
In 2014, Fresno State will play two Pac-12 opponents in back-to-back road games against USC and Utah. These high-profile West coast games present good opportunities for Fresno State to boost its profile on both the national level and in local recruiting battles.
UCLA holds a 6-2 lead in the series, though Fresno State notched the most recent victory with a 36-31 win in the Rose Bowl on Sept. 27, 2008. That game featured a nice catch-and-run touchdown from then-Bulldog running back Ryan Matthews.
