Athletics' Yonder Alonso: Responsible for only A's run Thursday

Alonso went 1-for-3 with an RBI single and a walk in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Angels.

Alonso plated Jed Lowrie in the fourth for Oakland's only run, and he and Lowrie were the only two Athletics to get on base more than once thanks to what was a sparkling effort by Ricky Nolasco and four Angels relievers. The veteran first baseman has driven in four of the team's six runs over the last two nights and has hit safely in three of the last four games overall.
