Pence is out of the lineup Thursday due to minor back tightness, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.
The team seems confident that the issue won't cost Pence more than the one start, but it's worth checking to be sure he's in Friday's lineup before deploying him as usual. Gregor Blanco is filling in for Pence in right field Thursday against left-hander Chris Rusin.
