Carrasco (9-6) threw eight shutout innings and alloweed just four hits while striking out nine in a win Monday over Oakland.
Carrasco had struck out a brilliant 28 batters over his past three starts but had mediocre results, with 10 earned runs allowed over 20.2 innings (4.35 ERA). Monday, he turned nastiness into results, as he paired 18 swinging strikes with seven ground balls to utterly lock down the Athletics lineup. Carrasco has a 3.12 ERA thanks to some slight inconsistency, but he's one of the league's best pitchers when he's on his game.
