Smyly (elbow) will be shut down from throwing for six weeks, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.

The initial estimate for Smyly's recovery was six-to-eight weeks, but that timetable has to be pushed back in light of this news. Chances are, Smyly will need at least a month to ramp up once he's cleared to resume a throwing program sometime in mid May. The lefty recently saw two more specialists who confirmed the diagnosis of a flexor strain. He was moved to the 60-day DL on Tuesday.
