Ross (shoulder) threw three innings and 45 pitches during an extended spring training game in Arizona on Saturday, allowing one run on three hits and two walks while striking out three, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.

Back spasms halted Ross' rehab work a few weeks ago, but he's turning the corner as he continues healing following October surgery to correct thoracic outlet syndrome in his right (throwing) shoulder. The right-hander felt good physically during and immediately afterward Saturday. Ross should perform another extended spring outing Thursday, pushing his limits to four frames and 60 pitches. He's then expected to make two minor-league starts before being deemed eligible for activation from the disabled list.
