Sandoval was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a left inner-ear infection, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
This is the first news of anything ailing the embattled corner infielder, and it's even more surprising given that he played in Monday's contest in Kansas City, going 1-for-3 at the plate. He'll be out at least until June 30, with Deven Marrero coming up to the big leagues to fill in for him.
