The Nationals released Rivera (elbow) on Saturday, Jessica Camerato of MLB.com reports.
Rivera went 3-for-14 in four games after signing with the Nationals on July 16. The catcher had been on the 10-day injured list and it's unclear when he'll be ready to play again, though that may be moot if no team signs him.
