Brandon Kintzler and Abad will split closing duties with Kevin Jepsen removed from the closer role, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Kintzler got the first opportunity in Wednesday's win over Miami to record his first career save. As a right-handed pitcher, Kintzler would appear more likely to get save chances ahead of the left-handed Abad. However, Abad has been the better pitcher with a 0.87 ERA and 20:5 K:BB ratio in 20.2 innings. He's worth a look for saves in deeper formats as a result.
